Is your website secured by SSL(Secure Socket Layer) / HTTPS ?


As a website owner, your prime aim remains to keep your site content secure. In our era, where most of the information resides on cloud network, a highly secure network connection is the foremost concern. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) provides the required encrypted link between a server and a client, typically a web server (website) and a browser or a mail server and a mail client, that ensures safe communication. So all you need for security, is get your site the SSL certificate.

How to activate:

It will be automatically activated for your domains and sub-domains which are pointing to our server. Please note that the domains and sub-domains supported by WSP’s web hosting services are valid for this option. For example, if you have any domain that is pointing to another server (through DNS), this feature will not work.

Steps to check your SSL:

1. Load your website in browser with https:// in front of your website URL.



2. You can also check your SSL certificates by logging into your cPanel and then clicking the SSL/TLS option as per the screenshot below.


3. Good news is that, now you have the Mail SNI enabled by default which means you can now connect to your email server securely by just entering your domain name in your incoming and outgoing server. To find your SSL settings for your email server, you can click Email accounts


4. You can follow the server settings under the SSL/TLS settings of your email account to configure your email client.



If you have just added a new addon-domain or new sub-domain and it is pointing to our server, you will receive the SSL shortly.

How to enable SSL automatically on your WordPress Based website :

You need to install this plugin Really Simple SSL  . After installation activate the plugin functionality , SSL will be enabled to your wordpress website.

How to Force SSL your domain:

Now that SSL is activated for your domains, it is still not yet forced on visitors. Visitors will still browse your http version of your website.

To force SSL for your visitors on your website, please create a file called .htaccess in your public_html folder using cPanel filemanager and enter the following code and save

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]

Also, please note that if you still have http:// links referred in your webpage, you will see a cross icon on lock in your browser address bar. To resolve that please remove any http:// links referred in your webpage and refer https:// links. You can also remove http:// links by viewing your page source in browser.

If your website is WordPress based , Please change to by logging into WordPress Dashboard => Settings => General

SSL certificate renewal:

Your SSL certificates are valid for 3 months and it will be renewed automatically before it gets expired, so you don’t need to worry about SSL renewal.
